UT, NJ, MN

I left PA for a couple of weeks to go to my brother's temple wedding in Bountiful, UT. I had a great time with my family but I wasn't so sure about being apart from Evan. I guess I kinda like that guy. Hmm...

THEN, the next weekend back Evan took me to the Jersey shore! We played on the boogie boards, laid on the beach, and searched for sea shells to add to my little brother's collection. I hadn't been to the ocean in 15 years so I was pretty excited about all of it.

Pretty soon we were packing up to drive back to Utah.

We took a detour to Minnesota so I could meet some of Evan's relatives and see where he grew up. He has some pretty deep roots there, including Nickerson where you can find DeLong Lake and DeLong Road.

What a fun summer it has been!
One of my best, I think.

Just missed it.

So... I missed my flight.

Yeah.

I guess I am a failure. In my defense though, I have very little experience with travel and I didn't expect it to take 50 freakin' minutes just to get through the security line!

Anyway, I ended up spending five extra hours in airports and one extra hour on the plane. BUT I finally ended up in Utah AND I made a new friend, Danielle. She missed the same flight, so we ate breakfast together and ended up talking about the LDS Church for nearly four hours. SCORE! The church is true!!!

I do miss my hubby lots and lots. But I'm having way too much fun to dwell on that.

Philly-delphia

My cousin McKell and her baby Bridger came to visit. We decided to go to Philadelphia and see a few historical gems. Like...

The Liberty Bell

The National Constitution Center

The Senate and House of Representatives Meeting Rooms

George Washington

and Benjamin Franklin...

...Among other things.

We kept it short and sweet

Yay for America!

Makes me Smile

I have been cleaning up the mess of picture and video files on my laptop lately and I came across ...

This little Gem

One of the Webre's best family home videos, I think :)

Enjoy!

21. Time to Party!

July 22 was my birthday!

This is me... decorating my own cake. That nobody else ate. (apparently my husband and in-laws are not "cake people")

But Evan made the cake anyway, AND he bought me new Adobe Design software!

...  :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)  ...

Evan had some super-duper fun plans for us but unfortunately they were all dashed due to:
1. The massive heat wave (100+ degrees)and
2. MORE car troubles. The third trouble, to be exact. In three months of marriage. $2,000 worth of troubles.

Yep.

So the plans were ruined. However, we did get out and wander around Home and Appliance stores, testing the Tempur-Pedic beds and dreaming about some day, maybe, being able to afford one.

ALSO. Let's not forget that 22 is my lucky number. AND I just started my 22nd year of life :) :) :) So... I expect that this year will be a pretty spectacular one.

Extra Time

The company that Evan is doing his internship with is struggling a bit. They cut his time down to four days a week. Kind of a bummer, financially. But there's nothing we can do about it, so we decided to just be glad that we get more time together
However... our first extra day together, we found that we had SO MUCH time that we didn't even know what to do with it! We found ourselves sitting around, watching TV and playing computer games.

So to remedy the boredom we....

 Played with sidewalk chalk

Ran through the Sprinklers

And ate a whole stack of Otter Pops

PLUS! to top off a perfect Summer day my studly husband made us dinner.

LOVE!

Pennsylvania is for Pennsylvanians

Good news :) I booked a flight home in August for Jason's wedding and other family festivities! Wooooo!

I can't say I'm a huge fan of Pennsylvania. It just... isn't home. Also, there are many large and extremely disturbing insects living in our house. They don't make the best company while Evan's gone to work. However, we're trying to make the most of our time here. Last weekend we made a trip out to New York to see the Hill Cumorah Pageant.
It was spectacular.

Wooooo! The Church is true!

Stephen and Cheryl came with.

We slept in a tent.

We did a session in the Palmyra temple.

And we saw other Palmyra sites including the Smith Family property, Sacred Grove and the print shop where the First edition of the Book of Mormon was printed.

Cool Stuff.

In With the New

...This is my new place of residence...

...This is my new Husband...

 And...This is my new haircut...

WORDS

Here is a wordy post for those who want a more detailed explanation of what's been happening in our lives.

Many of you know that Evan searched for a Construction Management internship for several months with no success. My parents were kind enough to offer their basement as living quarters. We were running out of time to find an internship (it has to be at least 12 weeks) so we decided to defer from school and we both found jobs at Levolor through a temp agency. We both worked 10 hour shifts 5 days a week in the warehouse.

At the very last minute Evan received a phone call from his dad. He had spoken with a member of their stake presidency (Brother Ramsden) out in Pennsylvania who owned a company in the Construction field. He passed along a number for Evan to call. Evan relayed his story to Brother Ramsden and was pretty much offered the job right there on the spot. We had to make a decision quickly. The next couple of days were hectic as we set up the internship with the school, quit our jobs, packed our bags and hit the road.

Pennsylvania is beautiful. The whole road trip was beautiful (maybe with the exception of Wyoming). We drove through Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and then through Pennsylvania. We were lucky enough to know people in Omaha and Ohio who let us spend the night in their homes along our way.

We are very blessed to be able to live in a large home, free of rent. Evan's parents live just around the block. For years they have been taking care of this home while the man who owns it, Lynn Rubow, travels the world on business. He was kind enough to let us stay in his home for the small price of taking care of his yard, watering his indoor plants and bringing in his mail.

I am still looking for a job, but it is getting harder and harder seeing as we're leaving to go back to school at the beginning of September. Evan's best friend Steve, and Steve's wife Cheryl live out here as well. THANK GOODNESS. I would go crazy if we didn't have them. We spend most of our free time with them and we have a lot of fun. Cheryl just graduated from beauty school and she was the one who cut my hair (love it!).

Life is good. We are happy even though I miss my family back in Utah and friends in Idaho.

Please keep in touch :)

P.S. Only 5 months 2 days 'til Jenny gets home! Have you started your paper chain? I have.

Mr. and Mrs. Evan DeLong

Evan and I tied the knot. YAY!

No reception, just a beautiful ceremony followed by a simple luncheon with close friends and family [perfection]. Then we honeymooned in Salt Lake City.

Exotic? No. Cheap? Yes.
So sue us. We are cheap skates.

Later we went to Moab with the remains of my family. A.k.a. Dad, Mom and Hunter.

The Rubicon broke. We fixed it. It broke again... We threw a frisbee.

Southern Utah was delicious.

Unfortunately, the care-free fun couldn't last forever. Evan's tedious search for an internship seemed to finally end in epic failure and we started to waste away in my parent's basement.

Then, magically, a job opportunity appeared.

...P&G...

I wrapped giant rolls of toilet paper 12 hrs a day, 5 days a week. Evan inspected incoming pallets for rodent droppings. That lasted two days.

Next!

... Levolor...

As you can see, it was no paradise, but besides waking up each morning at 3:45, this job was at least bearable.

But then.... A Summertime Miracle! Our prayers were answered. Evan was suddenly offered an internship and 3 days later we were on our way to Pennsylvania.

Point A: UT Point B: PA

Up-sides to PA: Rolling tree-covered hills, lightning bugs, warm rain, historical architecture, and Philly cheese-steaks. Down-sides: I am a job-less hobo and Evan is never home.
Thus, a blog. Stay tuned for more updates.
